Checking In to a Job Site

Some project sites require workers to check in daily upon arrival and check out when leaving. This helps maintain accurate attendance records and provides a clear record of who was on site throughout the day.

When you’ll use this

  • You’ll only need to check yourself in/out daily if required by the General Contractor. Some sites will have the foremen do this for their crews instead.

What you need before checking in

  • Your phone (or a kiosk/host device if the GC provides one)

  • The job site’s QR code (usually posted at the gate/trailer) or a link from the site team

  • Your correct Visitor Type and Subcontractor Company (if prompted)

How to check in (arriving on site)

    Common Issues

“I checked in under the wrong company/visitor type”

    • Tell your foreman or site team as soon as possible. The GC can change this for you.

    • If you haven’t submitted your orientation yet, go back and correct it before completing check-in.

    “I forgot to check out”

    • Let your foreman or site team know.

    • Follow their instructions. They may ask you to check yourself out when you remember, or your foreman may handle it on their side, depending on the job site setup.

Why GCs require check-in/out (why it matters)

This process helps the job site team:

    • Know who is on site (and who has left)

    • Run accurate emergency roll calls

    • Keep clean records for compliance and reporting

    • Reduce reliance on paper sign-in sheets

    Need help?

If you’re unsure what your jobsite requires, ask your foreman or the GC’s site safety team — they can tell you the exact check-in/check-out process for that project.
