How Notifications Work in Breadcrumb

Admins can manage notification settings directly in the Breadcrumb mobile app. This is where you control what you personally receive, and it’s also the best place to confirm your site team (and any subcontractors using the app) have their notifications turned on correctly.

What this means (quick definition)

  • Notifications are alerts created when something important happens in Breadcrumb.
  • Your notification settings are managed in the mobile app (what you get, and how you get it—push notification vs email)

When you’ll use this

  • When you’re getting too many alerts (noise)
  • When you think you’re missing alerts (coverage gaps)
  • When you’re onboarding a site team and want everyone set up the same way

Mobile App Instructions

  • Click the Notification Bell in the top right of the screen
  • From the dropdown, select the Cog Wheel in the top right corner
  • Move from the Profile tab to the Host Tab
    • This will be the name of the company you have Host permissions with
  • From here, you can toggle the buttons to turn Push Notifications and Emails on/off
    • Enable: Notifications will appear in the bell drop-down
    • Email: You will receive an email notification. Be sure to add your email to your Breadcrumb profile in the mobile app.
    • Push Notification: You will receive a push notification
  • To view each setting in more detail, press the Advanced link

Common issues

I changed settings but still don’t get push notifications

What to check

  • Your phone’s system notification permissions for the Breadcrumb app
  • Focus / Do Not Disturb modes that can delay delivery

What to do

  • Enable notifications in phone settings, then fully close and reopen the app

My site team/subcontractors say they didn’t see it

What to check

  • Are they using the mobile app regularly, or only occasionally?
  • Do they have push enabled on their device?

What to do

  • Have them follow the same in-app steps above and confirm phone settings are enabled

Why this matters

  • Clean notification settings keep Admins focused on high-risk items without drowning in alerts.
  • Making sure the site team and subcontractors have push enabled reduces missed steps and last-minute surprises.
