Host Check-In a Worker
Keep work moving when self check-in isn't an option. Host Check-In allows a Site Host to check in workers on their behalf if they don't have a phone, can't receive a verification code, or need assistance getting started.
What this means
- A site host checks a worker in using host tools (instead of the worker doing it themselves).
- It’s the fallback when the normal QR/self check-in flow won’t work.
When you’ll use this
- Worker didn’t receive the verification code (OTP)
- Worker used a VOIP number or has no cell service plan
- Worker forgot their phone or needs help completing check-in
Step-by-step
Common Issues
Worker didn’t get the verification code (OTP)
What to check
- Resend the code and wait 15 seconds
- Confirm the phone number digit-by-digit
- Check for VOIP / filtering issues (common examples: Google Voice, WhatsApp, TextNow, TextFree, Sideline, Burner, Hushed, Skype, RingCentral, Vonage, Ooma)
- Ask if they have a real cell plan (not WiFi-only)
What to do
- If any of the above checks point to VOIP/carrier filtering/WiFi-only, use Host Check-In instead of continuing to retry OTP
No text arrives to the worker even from your phone
What to check
- Carrier is likely blocking messages
What to do
- Use Host Check-In and let the GC site team know the number and the time you tried
Why this matters
- Host Check-In prevents day-one delays at the gate and keeps attendance accurate
- It’s the quickest workaround when verification codes or device issues block self check-in
Need help?
If Host Check-In isn’t available in your app (or you can’t access Host mode), contact your foreman or GC site team to confirm you have site host permissions for that jobsite.
