Copy from a Previous Form (PTP, JHA)

Save time on recurring work by using Copy from Previous to pre-fill a PTP or JHA with answers from an earlier submission. Before submitting, review all copied information to ensure it reflects the current scope of work, hazards, and site conditions.

What this means

  • “Copy from previous” creates a new PTP or JHA using answers from a form you submitted before.

  • You can then edit the new form before submitting it for today’s work.

When you’ll use this

  • When the scope is similar day-to-day, and you want a faster starting point

  • When your company or jobsite expects a PTP/JHA to be completed regularly (daily or per task)

Step-by-step

Common Issues

Crew or signatures did not copy over

What to check

  • Some job sites do not carry crew lists or signatures into a new, copied form.

What to do

  • Re-add the crew for today and collect new signatures as required.

Copied answers are outdated for today’s work

What to check

  • Weather, access, equipment, and the exact task can change from day to day.

What to do

  • Use the copied form as a starting point only, then update hazards and controls to match today’s plan.

I don’t see “Copy from previous.”

What to check

  • The option can depend on how your company or job site has set up forms and permissions.

What to do

  • Try starting the form again, make sure you’re selecting the correct form type (PTP vs JHA), and ask your GC site team if the setting is enabled for your jobsite.

Why this matters

  • Saves time while still keeping the safety plan accurate for today’s work

  • Helps your GC keep clean, consistent safety documentation for the job site
