Change a Worker's Visitor Type or Subcontractor Company
Need to fix a worker's Visitor Type or subcontractor company? Update their details in the User Directory to ensure accurate records and a smoother check-in experience. Any changes you make are automatically applied the next time the worker checks in.
What this means
-
You’re editing your company’s copy of the worker’s details (in User Directory).
-
If you change Visitor Type or Supplier/Subcontractor Company, it will auto-populate for the worker on their next check-in (they can still change it when prompted).
When you’ll use this
- Worker accidentally selected the wrong Visitor Type and missed required orientation steps
- Worker selected the wrong subcontractor company and needs to be tied to the correct company for docs/orientation
Step-by-step
Common Issues
I can’t edit the worker
What to check
- Editing basic profile info is web-portal only and requires the right permissions
What to do
- Ask your foreman or GC site team admin to confirm you have the permission to edit User Directory profiles
I need it to change what already happened today
What to check
- This update mainly affects what auto-populates on the next check-in (it won’t retroactively rewrite a completed check-in session)
What to do
- If the worker completed the wrong orientation because of the wrong visitor type/company, you may need to have them redo the correct check-in/orientation flow per your site process
The worker is on another company’s jobsite too
What to check
- User Directory edits are company-specific and won’t carry over to a different GC/customer’s account
What to do
- The other company would need to make the same correction in their own workspace if needed
Need help?
If you’re not sure what Visitor Type the worker should be using (or which subcontractor company to select), contact your foreman or GC site team to confirm the site’s visitor type definitions and the correct subcontractor list for that jobsite.
