Set up the Autodesk Forma Integration
This article explains how US Admins can connect Autodesk Forma Build (Autodesk Construction Cloud) with Breadcrumb. By creating a custom Breadcrumb integration in Autodesk and enabling it on selected projects, you can automatically sync project data between the two platforms.
What this means
- You create a “Custom Integration” in Autodesk using a Client ID provided by Breadcrumb.
- Autodesk automatically creates a system account (“Breadcrumb Dev”) that Breadcrumb uses to sync data securely.
When you’ll use this
- When your company runs projects in Autodesk Forma Build and wants directories and safety documentation to flow between Autodesk and Breadcrumb.
- When onboarding a new Autodesk account, or when adding additional Autodesk projects to Breadcrumb.
Enable a Project for Breadcrumb in Autodesk Construction Cloud
After creating the Breadcrumb Custom Integration in Autodesk Construction Cloud, a system account called Breadcrumb Dev will automatically be created at the account level.
This article explains how to add this account to a project so Breadcrumb can begin syncing project data.
Overview
When the custom integration is created:
- A new Account Level Member called Breadcrumb Dev is automatically added.
- This is a Self-Service Account, meaning no Breadcrumb employees have access to your Autodesk account.
- The account is used only for secure system-to-system integration.
The Breadcrumb Dev user will automatically have Account Administrator access.
However, for Breadcrumb to sync project data, the user must also be added at the Project Level.
Common Issues
APS Client ID missing

Check: Confirm you have the APS Client ID from Breadcrumb.

Do: Request the APS Client ID from your Breadcrumb contact before continuing.
Breadcrumb Dev does not appear in Account Admin Members

Check: Confirm the custom integration was saved and shows as Active in Custom integrations.

Do: Recreate the custom integration using the APS Client ID, then re-check Members.
Project not syncing

Check: Confirm Breadcrumb Dev was added as a Project Member on the specific project (not just at the Account level).

Do: Add Breadcrumb Dev to the project in Project Admin, ensure Build access is enabled, then save.
Work log hours stop updating (depending on setup)

Check: Some Autodesk setups stop accepting updates if the Work Log form is closed.

Do: Keep the Work Log form in progress if you expect ongoing updates during the day.
Why this matters

Reduces manual admin work by keeping Autodesk projects and Breadcrumb sites aligned.

Ensures safety workflows completed in Breadcrumb can be organized into Autodesk consistently (depending on setup).
